Educational Research and Development Services
Education by the Community for the Community

TriEd Research Associates (TERA) is a community-driven educational research and development organization that advances a bottom-up approach to research. Rather than treating students and community members only as subjects of study, TERA engages former students, educators, and community members as researchers, collaborators, and contributors to knowledge. Our work focuses on educational transitions, community needs, and locally developed solutions from K–12 through higher education, with particular attention to Texas and South Texas.
Welcome
Research with communities, not simply research on communities
Mission
Our mission is to conduct and support educational research that brings together research expertise and lifeworld knowledge to better understand educational experiences, programs, practices, and transitions. TERA seeks to produce research that is meaningful to schools, colleges, educators, students, and the communities they serve.
Vision
Our vision is to develop TERA as a community-based educational research organization where educators, former students, researchers, and community members work together to investigate educational problems, contribute knowledge, and develop locally informed approaches to improvement.
Values
-
Participation: Research should involve those who experience educational systems, not merely study them.
-
Lifeworld knowledge: Lived experience provides important knowledge for understanding educational institutions and practices.
-
Academic Integrity: Community-based research should maintain strong standards of research design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
-
Collaboration: Educational knowledge is strengthened when researchers, educators, students, and communities work together.
-
Transparency: Research processes, findings, and limitations should be communicated openly and responsibly.
